About
Sarah Janin is a full-time Certified American Mountain Guide based in Boulder, Colorado, guiding year-round throughout Rocky Mountain National Park and mountain ranges across the West. She is AMGA certified in Rock, Alpine, Ice, and Splitboarding disciplines, with Ski certification in progress.
She guides a wide range of objectives including alpine climbs, mountaineering routes, ice and rock climbing, and backcountry splitboard riding. In addition to guiding, Sarah is a lead avalanche educator for AIARE and AAI, teaching recreational courses focused on safe and efficient travel in winter terrain.
Sarah brings a strong foundation in risk management and medical care to every program. She is an EMT and Wilderness First Responder instructor with previous experience working on an ambulance in Vail.
She works with clients of all experience levels—from first days in the mountains to advanced technical objectives—and focuses on building skills, confidence, and efficient systems while creating safe, rewarding days outside.

Longs Peak Summit
There is only one 14,000 ft. Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park and it is Longs Peak. Being the stand-alone 14,000 ft. peak in “The Park”, Longs Peak draws in large crowds on a year-round basis. But, these crowds can be dispersed among the variety of hiking and climbing routes that Longs Peak provides.
Longs Peak has more routes than any other mountain in the country – over 120, from exposed scrambles to cutting-edge difficulty, and pure rock to ice and mixed climbs. The Longs Peak trail starts at 9,405 feet. Before long, the trees disappear and the wind-scoured alpine zone starts to feel like another planet, a feeling that only increase the farther you venture toward the 14,259-foot summit. For being so close to town, Longs Peak can seem astronomically removed. Its largest aspect, the intimidating East Face or “The Diamond”, rises 1,700 vertical feet from the Mills Glacier to its summit.

Moab Rock Climbing and Tower Climbing
Utah has a rich assortment of geological riches and home of the rock climbing mecca, Moab. Moab is situated at the base of the La Sal Mountains, located just south of the Colorado River on the Colorado Plateau at 4,025 feet. Every style of climbing you could dream of exists in Moab. Climbing styles can range from bouldering along the Colorado River at Big Bend ,crack climbing long aesthetic routes in Bear Ears National Monument, to tower climbs on the Fisher Towers along the Colorado River.

On this Avalanche Level 1 or level 2 course you’ll learn how to make informed decisions in avalanche terrain, with Colorado being one of the most fascinating places to learn about the snowpack. This course offers 3 action-packed days of professional avalanche training utilizing top notch classroom instruction and hands on field practice. This course was developed to give students the confidence to make informed decisions when traveling through the backcountry.
