About

Nearly 40 years ago, a local cowboy who was raised hunting and fishing Sun Valley's world-class wilderness had a great idea. "What if I make a life out of sharing my outdoor passions with Sun Valley's visitors? Fishing, hunting, hiking and horseback rides for everyone! Campfires under the stars, sunrises on mountain tops and tight lines at the end of their flyrods... Yeehaw!"

So in 1985, with a little organizing and a lot of hard work, Milt Butler founded what has grown to become today's Idaho Wilderness Outfitters. All these years later, Bryant Dunn continues the tradition as he has done for the past 20 years.

A culmination of four outfitting businesses, Idaho Wilderness Outfitters is Idaho's largest land-based outfit. The IWO Team has grown from one aspiring outfitter to a staff of 20 of the hardest working fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback and Kids Camps guides and the most guest-service oriented team in the Rocky Mountains. We at Idaho Wilderness Outfitters think "Uncle Milt" would be proud!
